Tuitunze Jamii is committed to protecting communities by preventing gender-based violence, promoting child protection, empowering survivors, and strengthening community resilience.
Caring for Communities. Changing Lives.
The idea of Tuitunze Jamii was formed when the organization's founder rescued a survivor of sexual violence in her neighbourhood. Having worked in Daadab, South Sudan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Ruth decided to volunteer psychosocial support to the survivor with curiosity to understand the kind of support a survivor gets in her own country with an aim to use her skills and experience to support the streamlining of the survivor services. Around the same time, there were highlights of serial rape in Kajiado county and this increased her quench to support survivors of sexual violence to receive meaningful support. She was convinced that it is only by working closely with the survivors of GBV that she will be able to identify gaps in service provision and in small ways influence closing of the gaps. Tuitunze Jamii was born out of her quench to take care of community members who experience such inhuman acts such as rape, sexual violence and Intimate partner violence.
